MALE CAT FOOD

PECKER PLUG-UP PREVENTION

1 lb ground beef (not chuck), braised lightly, with fat retained
1/4 lb liver, uncooked or braised lightly
1 cup cooked rice
1 teaspoon cooking oil
1 teaspoon limestone (calcium carbonate), ground eggshells, or 8 Tums antacid tablets
2 to 3 ounces water, added during cooking

Mix all ingredients to blend well.  This recipe makes 1.75 pounds of food.  Feed a quarter pound to half pound to a cat daily. This diet contains 0.05% magnesium on a dry-matter basis, well below the 0.10% recommended to prevent Feline Urological Syndrome (FUS) recurrences, and also has a balanced ratio of calcium and phosphorus.  Urinary acidifiers, 1 gram of ammonium chloride or 1.5 grams of DL-methionine daily also should be given to any cat that has further recurrences of FUS.
